Ramayana is going global before it even reaches cinemas. Nitesh Tiwari’s epic holds its world premiere in Los Angeles today, October 27, at the David Geffen Theater inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, with around 945 guests expected for a 3D screening of the film.
The premiere puts the biggest Indian film of the year in front of Hollywood filmmakers, international media and industry guests ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on November 5. Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, in an adaptation of the mythological epic that has dominated conversation all year.
The buzz is already showing up at the box office. Advance bookings for the first day have reportedly crossed 13 crore gross, or around 10.5 crore net excluding blocked seats, with bookings open for the first five days and counting. Part 1 arrives November 5, with Part 2 targeted for Diwali 2027 — and today’s Los Angeles premiere is the film’s first step onto the world stage.
