Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is stepping into a new creative arena with the launch of Benaras Beat, an artist-owned music label marking his entry into the music business. The acclaimed director has revealed the idea lived in his head and his office for seven to eight years — and that the difference between a dream and an ambition, he says, is simply taking action.
Sinha’s connection to music runs deeper than most fans know. He has shared that he began formally learning music three years ago, driven by a childhood passion — “there is music playing in my room all the time.” The label finally took shape about a year ago, when he started working with a couple of composers and put together a dedicated team. Several exclusive songs are already in the works, with unveilings expected soon.
With Benaras Beat, Sinha joins a growing list of filmmakers looking beyond the big screen, carving out space for original music created outside the film format. For audiences, the label promises a glimpse of a lesser-seen side of the director — one shaped by his lifelong love of music rather than cinematic storytelling alone.
