HUM TV’s Hurmat brings Dananeer Mobeen and Shahveer Jafry together in a story where the first hurdle isn’t romance. It’s the question of whether a young woman gets to choose her own future.
Mobeen plays Hurmat, whose father keeps her from attending university. In the first teaser described by Daily Times, she looks out from the confines of home and voices her frustration at being denied an education. Ali Tahir plays her father, while Javed Sheikh appears as a figure connected to her first steps beyond that world.
The drama pairs Mobeen with Jafry, who plays a classmate as Hurmat’s life opens up. That setup could become a familiar campus romance, but the more interesting question is what she gets to decide for herself before the relationship begins. The reported story outline follows her move to a city to continue her studies after growing up under restrictions at home.
Hurmat is written by Kashif Anwar, whose credits include Sabaat, Neem and Nauroz, and directed by Nadeem Siddique. It is produced by Momina Duraid Productions.
The teaser points to a drama about education and family control, rather than a love story alone. Whether the series gives Hurmat as much room to make decisions as its premise promises is the part worth watching.
