Anshuman Jha’s animal-lover vigilante is going global. Lakadbaggha 2 – The Monkey Business, the sequel to his unconventional Indian action film about an animal lover who turns vigilante, has been officially selected for the 2026 programme of the Razor Reel Flanders Film Fest in Bruges, Belgium, where it will hold its world premiere — making it the first Indian action franchise to be welcomed at the festival.
The sequel widens both its geography and its martial-arts vocabulary, uniting an international ensemble led by Chinese martial arts star Sunny Pang and Thai action icon Dan Chupong of Ong Bak fame, alongside acclaimed Indian performers Adil Hussain, Sarah Jane Dias, Vikram Kochar and Jha himself, who reprises his role as Arjun Bakshi. The film is also an India–Indonesia co-production, underlining its deliberately global footprint.
The Razor Reel programming team first discovered the film at Marché du Film at Cannes 2026, where its raw action and environmental core stood out. Festival director Patrick Van Hauwaert praised its hand-to-hand combat and its urgent spotlight on illegal wildlife smuggling. For Jha, who also directed the sequel, the film is a love letter to the environment built around the endangered Yaki monkey — a species whose population has fallen from nearly 50,000 in 1990 to fewer than 5,000 today. The franchise began humbly: the first film opened at the Kolkata International Film Festival and premiered internationally at SAIFF New York, where Jha took home Best Actor honours in 2023.
