Aastha Gill has released Wild Card, her debut Punjabi EP, marking both a homecoming to her North Indian roots and a bold new chapter as an independent artist. The EP, which arrived on October 10 through Rthyms, features three brand-new tracks — ’21 Shots’, ‘Farebi’ and ‘Calgary’ — and follows an eight-month hiatus during which the singer reshaped her sound.
Known for her chart-topping Punjabi collaborations with artists like Badshah and Diljit Dosanjh, the Delhi-born singer is now taking full creative control. The EP opens with ’21 Shots’, a high-energy narrative about a fiercely loyal relationship between a high-fashion law student in London and a fearless Majhail from Punjab. ‘Farebi’, written by Gurjit Gill, captures a woman confronting a deceitful partner who chooses parties and a lavish lifestyle over the relationship. Closing track ‘Calgary’, written by Rym Gill, explores the emotional weight of long-distance love — a Punjabi woman navigating the Canadian winter while her partner remains immersed in Chandigarh’s music scene.
Gill describes the release as a liberating experience and a true homecoming, saying this is the first time she is steering the ship entirely on her own terms. The EP is called Wild Card because it represents the unexpected — nobody expected this project from her right now. Wrapped in vibrant bubble-gum pop colours, hyper-stylised visuals and high-fashion looks, Wild Card blends authentic Punjabi storytelling with global pop aesthetics, and is available now across all major streaming platforms.
