Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has stormed past the ₹200 crore mark at the worldwide box office in just two days of release. The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action drama, which opened in cinemas on October 15, earned an estimated ₹35.60 crore net in India on its second day, October 16, taking its cumulative India net collection to ₹95.30 crore. With its domestic gross at ₹112.10 crore and a hefty overseas haul of ₹97 crore, the film’s worldwide gross stands at approximately ₹209.10 crore after only two days, according to box office tracking platform Sacnilk.
The Tamil version continues to lead the domestic charge, contributing ₹25.25 crore net on Friday from more than 7,200 tracked shows with 61% occupancy, followed by the Telugu version at ₹7.25 crore and the Hindi version at ₹2.75 crore. Night shows in Tamil Nadu were near-packed, with occupancy touching almost 86%, and the film has already clocked more than 6.13 million footfalls worldwide. Overseas audiences have been a major engine of the run — international markets added ₹40 crore on day two alone.
The sequel has also outpaced its blockbuster predecessor in speed. The original Jailer (2023) went on to cross ₹600 crore worldwide, but Jailer 2 is the fastest Tamil film of 2026 to enter the ₹200 crore club, beating fellow 200-crore club members Jana Nayagan, Karuppu, and Vishwanath and Sons — the last of which needed 19 days to reach the milestone. With Rajinikanth returning as the swaggering Muthuvel Pandian alongside a loaded ensemble featuring Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, S.J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, and cameos from Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, and Shivarajkumar, the weekend is now all that stands between the film and the top of the year’s Tamil chart.
