Spoilers ahead: This recap of Dar-e-Nijaat Episode 23 (aired Saturday, October 17, 2026 on ARY Digital) discusses major plot twists. If you haven’t watched it yet, read on only if you don’t mind the spoilers.
Episode 23 of Dar-e-Nijaat, Umera Ahmed’s gripping ARY Digital drama directed by Saqib Khan, is the one where secrets finally start costing people. Every hidden decision of the past few months surfaces at once — and the fallout is enormous.
Quick catch-up: how we got here
Zaryab (Durefishan Saleem) once gave up her Harvard ambitions for Zamil (Nameer Khan), her childhood sweetheart. Then Zamil turned to religion, dismissed their years together as his “time of ignorance,” and — without telling her — married Hamna (Romaisa Khan). Zaryab confronted him and received nothing but self-righteousness, then broke down completely. In her grief and confusion, she married Abu Bakar (Sheheryar Munawar), the quiet, principled man whose calm had steadied her at her lowest. Zamil, meanwhile, couldn’t let go: he showed Zaryab’s messages to Hamna, fed her jealousy, and kept pulling strings from the sidelines.
The diary bombshell
The heart of Episode 23 is Hamna’s diary. Zaryab discovers it — and what she reads reopens every wound she thought was scabbing over. The diary confirms the past that has been hinted at for weeks: Hamna once eloped with Abu Bakar, a chapter that ended with him leaving her at a madrassah. For Zaryab, who has spent episode after episode questioning what her husband hides behind his composure, this is gasoline on a fire. She confronts Abu Bakar directly about his past love — demanding to know how the man preaching honesty could have buried something this big.
Abu Bakar’s response
Abu Bakar answers the way he always does: calmly, without theatrics. It is the same steady register he used when Zaryab accused him of accepting money from her father — a charge he denied flatly, telling her that if she wanted a divorce, it would happen through proper process, not on her terms alone. Here, again, he refuses to be rattled. Whether his calm finally convinces Zaryab that his silence is discipline rather than deceit is the question the episode leaves hanging.
Zamil’s plan blows up in his face
Zamil’s storyline gets its comeuppance this week. His scheming — weaponizing Zaryab’s messages to poison Hamna against her, presenting his piety as moral authority while playing both women — collapses when Hamna reveals the truth about her feelings for Abu Bakar. The woman Zamil treated as a pawn turns out to have her own heart and her own story, and his attempt to use her backfires spectacularly. For all his talk of divine forgiveness and devotion, Zamil’s possessiveness over Zaryab keeps exposing the gap between the man he claims to be and the man he is.
What Episode 23 means
Three things matter here. First, the drama keeps asking the question viewers have been arguing about online all month — the same one Durefishan Saleem herself addressed recently — about whether Zaryab’s healing is being outsourced to Abu Bakar. Episode 23’s answer is more complicated than that: Zaryab is investigating, confronting, and choosing her own battles. Second, the diary finally makes Abu Bakar’s past concrete, which should force the show to let him speak plainly rather than in riddles. And third, Zamil is running out of moral high ground — his religion-as-armour act is visibly cracking.
With Episode 24 teasers pointing toward Zaryab and Abu Bakar confronting Zamil together, the show is steering toward its most important test: whether two wounded people can build trust on truth instead of suspicion. For a drama about faith, guilt, and redemption, that feels like the right destination.
