The epic has gone global. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 held its world premiere in Los Angeles, giving the year’s most anticipated Indian film its first public screening just days before its worldwide theatrical release. Here are five things to know from the premiere night.
- The premiere was an exclusive, invite-only affair at the David Geffen Theatre inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Billed as the film’s first public presentation, the event screened the film in 3D for industry guests and international figures, marking its formal introduction to a global audience.
- The film’s leading trio walked the red carpet together. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama, wore a silver bandhgala, while Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita, appeared in a pink saree and spent time signing autographs and taking selfies with fans. Yash, who plays Ravana, arrived with his wife Radhika Pandit to cheers from the crowd, alongside director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra.
- Yash used his moment on stage to speak about his roots. Opening with “Ellarigu Namaskara” — greetings to all — he said, “Where you start can never define how far you can go,” and spoke proudly of carrying Kannada cinema onto a global stage. He added that the Ramayana is not just a story India tells, but one it remembers and passes down through generations.
- The release plan is now days away. Part 1 arrives in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, with paid previews scheduled for November 4, and will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, including IMAX presentations. Sony Pictures is distributing the film globally outside India, while Dharma Productions handles the Hindi-speaking market, and Part 2 is slated for Diwali 2027.
- The scale behind the film is enormous. Produced by Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part epic features a score from Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman and a sprawling ensemble including Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Arun Govil as King Dashrath. The production has reportedly been mounted on a budget of ₹4000 crore.
