Kartik Aaryan is set to headline Operation Sindoor, Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming military drama for T-Series, according to reports. The casting, first reported as an exclusive by Variety India, pairs one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable young stars with one of its most polarising filmmakers — though no official casting announcement from the makers has been made yet.
The film is based on Lt. Gen. K. J. S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon’s book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan. Agnihotri announced the project on social media in March, describing it as rooted in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and backed by extensive, ground-level research in collaboration with multiple wings of the Indian Armed Forces — a story, in his words, drawn from reality, “not to create noise, but to confront it: with facts, with clarity, and the magic of cinema.”
The project marks the first collaboration between Aaryan and Agnihotri, whose previous films include The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files, The Vaccine War and The Bengal Files. Aaryan is currently shooting Shimit Amin’s Captain India, set against the backdrop of the Houthi conflict in Yemen, and will begin work on Operation Sindoor after wrapping that film. He will next be seen in Naagzilla, slated for theatres on February 12, 2027. Operation Sindoor will be backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series alongside Agnihotri’s banner, I Am Buddha Productions.
