Himesh Reshammiya has been keeping a secret. In a conversation with Komal Nahta, the singer-composer revealed that he has written, sung and composed 15 songs in English for an international album — songs he insists do not sound wannabe in any manner whatsoever. The album will be launched on a very big scale once his current commitments allow, he said, with its first single unveiled in a grand fashion globally.
Reshammiya said the timing feels right because of his place on Bloomberg’s list of the world’s most influential pop stars, where he was ranked at No. 22 in August 2025 as the only Indian artist featured. He plans to launch the album internationally the way he was launched as a singer in India, targeting listeners of English music worldwide rather than singing a small part in someone else’s global song. He compared the moment to Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005, when nobody could imagine how he would sound as a singer — and promised the same surprise again, with a romantic connection running through the new material.
Asked which international singer he would most like to collaborate with, Reshammiya did not hesitate: there is one song, he said, that is absolutely right for Rihanna. The English album is not his only ambition on the table — in the same round of interviews he also confirmed plans to turn director. For now, though, his current music is firmly in the spotlight: his latest song, Dard-E-Dil Dard-E-Jigar from Gunmaaster G9, sung with Akasa Singh to lyrics by Sonia Kapoor Reshammiya, arrived on October 30 ahead of the film’s November 27 release.
