Ramayana: Part 1 has delivered its biggest day yet. The Nitesh Tiwari epic collected ₹69.80 crore net in India on Saturday, its third day in cinemas — a 45.3 per cent jump over Friday’s ₹48.05 crore that reversed the second-day dip and confirmed the film as the defining box-office story of this Diwali.
Hindi led Saturday with ₹53.00 crore, followed by Kannada at ₹6.30 crore, Telugu at ₹6.00 crore, Tamil at ₹2.50 crore and Malayalam at ₹2.00 crore, across 23,696 shows at 41.3 per cent occupancy. Three days in, the India net total stands at ₹182.70 crore, with India gross at ₹218.25 crore. Overseas, the film added ₹68.50 crore on Saturday alone, taking its international total to ₹165.75 crore — a three-day overseas haul of $17.45 million, the biggest opening weekend ever for a Hindi film abroad, ahead of Pathaan, Jawan and Dhurandhar 2. The worldwide gross now stands at ₹384.00 crore.
The celebration inside cinemas has matched the numbers outside them. Theatres across India erupted when Sunny Deol appeared as Lord Hanuman in a mid-credit scene, with audiences breaking into chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Jai Bajrangbali’ — a moment that has become one of the weekend’s most talked-about scenes. With Sunday’s Diwali-day collections still coming in, the film’s first-weekend run is now chasing records that stood for years.
