The wait is over — the brand-new trailer for Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has officially landed. Dropped today on the film’s official World of Ramayana channel, the Hindi trailer marks the start of Sony Pictures’ full-scale international campaign for what is easily the most ambitious Indian film ever mounted, just three weeks out from release.
The new cut leans hard into the confrontation the entire country has been waiting to see: Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama, a prince bound by sacrifice, standing against Yash’s Ravana, the immortal king driven by vengeance, with an ancient prophecy binding their fates together. Around that central clash, the trailer parades the film’s staggering canvas — the golden grandeur of Ayodhya in celebration, vast battlefield clashes, and mythological spectacle rendered at a scale Indian cinema has never attempted. It is the second trailer for the film after the first look arrived in July, and it makes the intent clear: this is being positioned as a global cinematic event, not just a domestic release.
The pedigree behind the camera is unmatched. Nitesh Tiwari, the filmmaker behind Dangal — still the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide — directs, with Namit Malhotra producing. The visuals come from Malhotra’s DNEG, the Academy Award-winning effects house behind Dune, Interstellar, Inception, and The Odyssey, while the score pairs two Oscar winners: Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Ranbir Kapoor leads as Rama opposite Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, and Rakul Preet Singh rounding out a deep ensemble.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opens exclusively in theatres, IMAX, and Premium Large Formats worldwide on November 5, right in the heart of the Diwali corridor.
