The makers of ‘Prahaar – The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’ have unveiled the film’s first song, and it wears its heart on its sleeve. ‘Mere Rehte’, composed and sung by Vishal Mishra with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, is a patriotic ballad about loving one’s country — and having the courage to stand as its shield.
At the core of the song is an unusual hero: not a soldier or a cop, but a lawyer who chooses to fight for his nation through the justice system. The music video’s visuals move between the streets of Mumbai and the collective memory of the 26/11 terror attacks, tracing the people, places and moments the city can never forget, and the man who took the battle forward in India’s courtrooms. Mishra has said the song came to him naturally: “My love for the country runs very deep… ‘Mere Rehte’ carries that same thought — that as long as we stand, nothing can reach our nation.”
Directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, ‘Prahaar’ stars Rajkummar Rao alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, and arrives in theatres on October 16.
