Pakistani singer Hasan Raheem has put his song ‘Bewajah’ forward for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, submitting it in two categories: Best Music Video and Best Global Music Performance.
Raheem announced the move on Instagram through a post shared by the Hasan Raheem Global page, captioned “BEWAJAH | FOR YOUR GRAMMY® CONSIDERATION.”
The track blends Urdu and Shina, carrying the sounds and traditions of his native Gilgit-Baltistan to a wider audience. Its music video, filmed against the mountains of northern Pakistan, features traditional freestyle polo and local dress — a visual tribute to the region’s culture.
A submission for consideration is not a nomination — it places ‘Bewajah’ in the running ahead of first-round voting, which closes October 22, with the nominees announced on November 16. The 69th Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for February 7, 2027.
Pakistani artists have been making Grammy history in recent years — Arooj Aftab won in 2022, becoming the first Pakistani artist to take home the award. Fans will now be watching to see whether ‘Bewajah’ earns Raheem a nomination and takes Pakistani music one step further on the global stage.
