Kangana Ranaut is returning to horror. At HorrorCon India 2026 in New Delhi on Halloween, October 31, actor and producer Rana Daggubati announced a new Hindi horror film titled Scary Picture, with Kangana in the lead role. Daggubati said the title was being revealed at the convention first, before any announcement to the Hindi press, and Kangana shared footage of the on-stage announcement on social media on November 1.
The film will be directed by Telugu filmmaker-actor Ravi Babu, making his first Hindi feature. Babu, the son of veteran Telugu actor Chalapathi Rao, has worked as an actor since 1998 and a director since 2002, and is known in Telugu cinema for horror and thriller work, including Anasuya and Avunu. He directed the Telugu horror film Razor earlier this year. Daggubati described Babu as a friend who has made multiple horror films in Telugu, and is producing Scary Picture under Suresh Productions and Spirit Media.
Kangana is no stranger to the genre. She starred in Raaz: The Mystery Continues in 2009 and in the Tamil horror-comedy Chandramukhi 2 in 2023, and her Telugu debut came in Ek Niranjan in 2009. She was last seen in Bharat Bhagya Viddhaata, playing senior nurse Geeta Madhav Gandhare in a dramatised account of nurses during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. Further details, including the remaining cast and start of production, are still awaited.
