Jio Studios and Aanand L Rai have locked October 30, 2026 for the theatrical release of Nakhrewaalii, a romantic comedy that introduces newcomers Ansh Duggal and Pragati Srivastava in the lead roles. The film is directed by debutant Rahul Shanklya and written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, and is produced by Jio Studios and Colour Yellow, the banner led by Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma.
The makers are pitching Nakhrewaalii as a “womantic comedy” — a blend of romance and humour that looks at relationships and gender roles through a contemporary lens. The newly unveiled poster carries the tagline “Kabhi Kabhi Pyaar Mein Majnu Ko Bhi Laila Banna Padta Hai,” hinting at a playful reversal of conventional expectations in relationships — who pursues, who compromises, who takes the lead.
Through its light-hearted treatment, the film also aims to spark conversations around women’s safety and deep-rooted societal norms, bringing those themes into a narrative the makers promise will be as engaging as it is thought-provoking. Duggal had earlier called the opportunity a dream come true, describing his debut under Rai’s banner as the start of his acting journey. The trailer, expected soon, should reveal more about the story’s unusual premise.
