Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan rang in Dussehra the spiritual way. The two stars visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar on October 20 to seek blessings for their upcoming spy comedy Udta Teer, which hits theatres this Friday, October 23.
Sara shared a photograph of the duo offering prayers with folded hands at the gurdwara, both twinned in elegant white outfits. “Happy Dussehra. Wishing everyone love, luck and laughter,” she captioned the post.
The temple visit is the final leg of the film’s promotion push. Udta Teer, the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik, flips cross-border spy tropes into full-blown satire: Ayushmann plays a Pakistani spy who loses his memory after an explosion and wakes up convinced he is a top field agent of India’s Counter-Terrorism Squad. Sara plays an Indian CTS operative, with Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe rounding out the ensemble. The film was originally slated for October 9 before moving to October 23 to steer clear of Drishyam: The Conclusion’s record-breaking run.
Produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, the film’s music comes from Sachin-Jigar — and it also carries a first: rapper Emiway Bantai makes his Bollywood playback debut with the track ‘Choozay’.
